An American Success Story

Entrepreneurialism, integrity, and respect for people were the driving forces that inspired company founders Alice and Adam Leshem when they opened up their manufacturing business five decades ago. Those are the same guiding principles that keep Lesro a family-owned and operated business today led by sons Ed and Jerry.

Committing to success – it’s what drove Adam and his sons to craft their first chair made of solid oak, successfully launching the company into a new market segment after sticking together through a number of lean years.

Strength. Service. Style. Stability. Sustainability.

These are more than just buzzwords to describe how this custom furniture manufacturer does business. For the last 50 years at Lesro, these have become fundamental expectations for the company’s ongoing success.

This requires possessing the integrity to do right by your people and treat others how you want to be treated. Whether giving back to the community or conserving resources, Lesro comes through for the common good. These shared values build lasting relationships with long-time employees and loyal customers alike.

50 Years of Strength

For 50 years, Lesro exemplifies the grit and determination of American ingenuity. With only $20 in their pockets, Alice and Adam Leshem came to the United States in 1968 to pursue the American dream. Leveraging Adam's background as an engineer, Lesro was founded in 1973 to manufacture his patented foldable drafting table.

When the sales of drafting tables plateaued, Adam and his son Jerry pivoted into the seating business and produced the company’s first chair in 1986. With Adam’s other son Ed handling operations, the company emerged as a top name in custom reception seating and tables by always doing right by its customers. Today, Lesro thrives based on its strong foundation of constant innovation, continuous improvement, and customer service.

50 Years of Sustainability

Commiting to the future, Lesro builds sustainability in all its business practices. They believe that conserving natural resources makes sense for both the environment and our customers. That’s why Lesro has invested in a solar-powered manufacturing plant, soy-based foam, water-based adhesives, and environmentally-friendly packaging to reduce their carbon footprint and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

The manufacturing, sourcing, and packaging processes conserve raw materials, while minimizing harmful emissions. Lesro also upcycles sawdust waste into other usable products like horse bedding and fuel pellets, and donates excess fabric to Habitat for Humanity. By doing their part to reduce waste and conserve resources, Lesro is able to help save the environment – and lower costs to the customer. Being a good corporate citizen is an enduring ethos handed down from company founder, Adam Leshem. This commitment to sustainability will be a part of Lesro’s legacy for the next 50 years.
